What is Hypnotherapy?

“A goal without a date is just a dream.” - Milton H. Erickson

Hypnotherapy is NOT a magic cure.

Hypnotherapy is a clinical technique used to treat physical disease AND/OR psychological issues. It should always be conducted by a qualified, insured and licensed hypnotherapist, and can be part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes psychotherapy. The benefits of hypnotherapy are long-term results, relaxation experienced during and after the treatment, and an absence of side affects and dependency. Hypnotherapy attempts to address an individual's subconscious mind, using the power of suggestion for beneficial change.

Although hypnotherapy is not the same as sleep (the individual will still have awareness and control), hypnotherapists often require the individual to be in a deeply relaxed state to enable them to use their imagination fully. For this reason, it’s imperative that the individual feels completely comfortable with their hypnotherapist. Hypnosis is a different state of consciousness from being awake or asleep, and many people compare the deep, relaxed state of hypnosis to daydreaming.
During this relaxed state, therapeutic goals can be undertaken, such as treating phobias, exploring emotions, and altering detrimental thought patterns.

Hypnotherapy is often used after a client has been unresponsive to treatment with traditional medical treatment, such as diet or medication.
